This week, we’ll be getting into how you create a unique point of view in the media.

This is something lots of people struggle with, particularly if they feel they work in a ‘saturated’ industry but once you nail it, not only will it help you stand out to journalists, it’ll help you get more confident with your marketing, too.

Let’s get into it.

 Look beyond the obvious

To create a unique point of view in the media, you need to look beyond the obvious. Don't just share your thoughts on the same things as everyone else - dig deeper within your niche to uncover stories that others might have missed. Try to find new angles, perspectives, and answers to the ‘why does this matter now?’ that add value and depth to your pitches.

Inject your personality

Injecting your personality into your pitching can help you stand out from the crowd. Your unique voice and style can make your ideas more engaging and memorable. Don't be afraid to add a bit of humour, sarcasm, or even a personal anecdotes to your pitches to give them a personal touch.

Develop expertise in a specific area

Becoming an expert in a specific area of your industry can help you develop a unique perspective on any news that comes out within your niche. If you're passionate about a particular topic, you can become the go-to person for insights and analysis on that topic. This can help you build good relationships with journalists and establish yourself as an authority in your field.

 Use data to your advantage

Data can be a powerful tool for creating a unique point of view in the media. By analysing data, you can uncover trends, patterns, and insights that others might have missed. This can help you add context and depth to your pitches and give audiences a new perspective on the news.

 Challenge conventional wisdom

To create a unique point of view, you need to be willing to challenge conventional wisdom. Don't just accept what others are saying, but question assumptions, challenge biases, and offer alternative perspectives. This can help you stand out from the crowd.
