When to set your own trends

Whilst it's true that industry giants often lead the way, you can make a big splash too. Here are my tips for you.

While agreeing with everyone is easy, setting a trend means questioning the norm. If everyone's nodding in agreement, can you offer a different take? Contrarian viewpoints catch attention and get people talking, making you a true thought leader.

Take a trend and put it in a new context. This not only shows off your creativity but also adds a fresh twist. By blending seemingly unrelated ideas, you can find new angles that catch the eye of journalists.

Trends with solid data have more impact. Run surveys, dive into industry reports, or gather stats to back your story. Trends with numbers behind them are more convincing and show you're not just surfing, you're shaping.
